Bulletproof

Hein van Dam and Carolien Vlieger met in June 1999. This meeting was to be the beginning of their relationship and subsequently the beginning of the brand Vlieger & Vandam. Dutch design couple started their accessory label in 2002 with a series of faux-hairdo hats called Hairwear and a collection of bags called Guardian Angel. 'Guardian Angel' was the first in a series of striking bags. It makes a strong statement about the growing rates of crime and violence.
Carolien studied graphic design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and Hein studied 3D design from the Academy of Visual Arts and Design in Enschede. This combine of creative disciplines has massively informed their highly original fashion accessories. Everything from global socio-political issues to extreme fashion fads is subject to their innovative yet classic design vocabulary.
